Developer Piermont Properties has released the first renderings of a new, six-story multi-residential development at 188-11 Hillside Avenue in Hollis, Queens. Designed by Meltzer/Mandl Architects as a consultant for EDI International, the building will eventually comprise a mix of market-rate rental apartments, community-oriented facilities, and two levels of sub-grade parking.


Meltzer/Mandl Selected for Rehab in Newark Ironbound

Planning applications have just been filed for this 5-unit-to-7-unit conversion in the Ironbound district of Newark. Rehab includes complete mechanical upgrades, along with new finishes in the apartments and public spaces. Meltzer/Mandl Architects., P.C. is working with owner's rep Stephen M Sannicandro of SMC Projects for Volco Ventures who are acquiring and renovating the property.

Eli Y. Meltzer, AIA, has joined Meltzer/Mandl Architects, P.C., serving beside his architect/developer father, Marvin H. Meltzer, AIA, who founded the firm in 1995 with late partner, David Mandl. The firm has since designed approximately 12,000 units of affordable and market-rate housing in the New York City area.


Meltzer/Mandl Selected for HPD Pilot Program

Meltzer/Mandl Architects has been selected to work with The East New York Base Collaborative, a collective partnership of non-profit organizations, on the HPD Basement Conversion Pilot Program to provide eligible low- to middle-income homeowners with low or no-interest loans to convert their basement or cellar into a safe, legal, and rentable apartment. Work includes implementation of an amended building code and BSA variance waivers.

The ENY BASE includes Cypress Hills Local Development corporation, Restored Homes, the Center for NYC Neighborhoods, Chhaya Community Development Corporation, and the Pratt Center for Community Development. This innovative program is an important feature of Mayor DeBlasios Housing New York initiative, a 10-Year Plan to create and preserve 300,000 high-quality, affordable homes.
